Things to carry while traveling to Kalpitya Lagoon

  • Sunscreen – It is recommended to wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher in Kalpitya.
  • UV ray protection sunglasses – UV ray protection sunglasses are an ideal companion or your trip to Kalpitya. If you plan on kitesurfing here, these sunglasses can help you in the water.
  • Mosquito repellent – It is recommended to carry an insect and mosquito repellent to Sri Lanka.
  • Waterproof bandages – Although the lagoon has no coral reefs, it would be safe to carry some waterproof bandages. It is safer to protect your wounds against the muddy waters of the lagoon.
  • Antiseptic solution – Solutions containing isopropyl alcohol, povidone-iodine, and/or chlorhexidine gluconate can be used against infections.
  • Antibiotic creams – These you can use to help treat or prevent infection for minor cuts or scrapes.
  • Antifungal creams – Used to treat skin infections such as athlete’s foot, jock itch, ringworm, and other fungal skin infections 
  • Oral rehydration salts – The tropical climate of Kalpitiya can dehydrate, so it would be wise to carry an ORS to help stay hydrated.
